The St. Moritz Gourmet Festival 2006: A Celebration of Swiss Culinary Excellence
Every winter, the picturesque town of St. Moritz in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland, transforms into a haven for food enthusiasts from around the globe. The St. Moritz Gourmet Festival, a much-anticipated event, showcases the finest culinary talents and gastronomic delights. In 2005, the festival celebrated its 13th year, and I had the pleasure of attending for the first time.

One of the highlights as executive chef at the prestigious Badrutt’s Palace for my first Gourmet festival as guest Chef. This grand hotel, with its opulent setting and impeccable service, provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of culinary excellence. The star of the night was Adolf Blokbergen, the celebrated chef from Auberge des Raisins in Cully.
Adolf Blokbergen’s reputation precedes him. With two Michelin stars and an impressive Gault Millau score of 18/20, he is renowned for his exceptional culinary skills and innovative approach to traditional Swiss cuisine. His restaurant, Auberge des Raisins, is a testament to his dedication to quality and creativity.

The St. Moritz Gourmet Festival is more than just an event; it is a celebration of the culinary arts, a testament to the creativity and skill of the chefs, and an unforgettable experience for all who have the privilege to attend. I look forward to many more years of culinary discoveries in the beautiful setting of St. Moritz, guided by the visionary leadership of Reto Mathis.
